ABOUT UPENDO MEDIA
Upendo Media Network Ltd (UMN) constitutes Upendo TV, Upendo FM Radio and Upendo Newspaper which is religious owned Media by the Eastern and Coastal Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania (ELCT ECD). The company has been established in 2005 comprising UpendoFM Radio, Upendo Newspaper and Upendo TV. The Radio broadcasts at frequency number 107.7 MHZ. The Newspaper was established in 2012 and Upendo TV started to operate in February 2019; Star times channel number 548 (Dish) and 459 (Antenna), Azam channel number 465 (Dish)
LOCATION
The Media offices are located at Luther House, 2nd Floor for Upendo FM Radio studio, and 4thFloor for Upendo TV Studio and 3rd Floor Media Offices, along Sokoine Drive near the Azania Front Lutheran Church Cathedral. Despite its humble background the Media is in an up-ward trend of its progress in quality programs and quality Newspaper contents.
UPENDO TV
Upendo TV is a Christian and Religious Television whose service aimed at meeting the needs of a clearly defined and easily identified community within the country. It is local and International TV owned by Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania East and Coast Diocese.
Upendo TV meets the aspirations and needs of a significant majority who still consider Faith in God and His Son Jesus Christ a central part of their lives. It expresses Christian Faith and Values.
In delivering services to the people of Tanzania and all over the World, Upendo TV adopts a multi layered approach to governance, accountability, strategy development and implementation. The Board consult extensively within the local Christian and Religious community to ensure that the work and service delivered by Upendo TV is fulfilling its mandate and the objectives set out.
Upendo TV program content is all about building up people and communities, telling real life stories, building bridges and helping the 21st Century Tanzania people to live a compelling and meaningful Christianity which is relevant and real.
UPENDO FM REDIO
Despite of its uniqueness of Religious background, Upendo FM Radio provide normal broadcasting services like other non-commercial Radio in Tanzania. The Radio produces and broadcasts normal News, Sports news, Radio features, talk shows, reviews and other normal programs that entertain, educate and inform communities on various socio-economic, religious and educational programmes. From Dar es Salaam, the Radio reaches slightly over 6.5 million people in Dar es Salaam, Coastal region, Zanzibar, Tanga and Morogoro through its eight (8) programs broadcasted every day on its economic, cultural and spiritual matters.
UPENDO NEWSPAPER
Upendo Newspaper is weekly Newspaper, do print various contents on social, political, economic and educational matters. Currently the Newspaper distribution is taking place in all Lutheran churches of East and Costal Diocese, Eastern Diocese and other Dioceses of Morogoro, Dodoma, Konde, Iringa, Ziwa Tanganyika, South Diocese and Pare diocese which are found within the 16 regions of the Tanzania. The distribution of the Newspaper is also taking place in the Streets in all above regions.
